Three-dimensional reconstruction of confocal stacks labeled by TUNEL to detect degrading DNA in the optic nerve head of mice, where degrading retinal ganglion cell mitochondria are identified by AAV2::MitoEGFPmCherry intravitreal injection. These are the same data presented in Fig. 3B. DAPI is shown in blue, EGFP is shown in green, mCherry is shown in red, and TUNEL is shown in white. EGFP and mCherry are shown individually and then together. The mCherry-ONLY voxels are shown in purple, and the TUNEL signal is then shown to overlap the purple acidified mitochondria. Finally, the raw EGFP, mCherry, and TUNEL signals are shown together.
