The cutoff of the current smoothing is indicated with the red dashed line; for cutoff values below the wavelength L/n (dashed gold line), the path is unaffected by the smoothing; however, once the cutoff value approaches L/n, the helix is rapidly smoothed down to a ring of zero helicity.
