Movie S9. Time-lapse movie capturing the transition from a vesicle chain to a continuous bacterial nanowire from a S. oneidensis MR-1 cell. Red fluorescence is the result of membrane staining by FM 4-64FX. The interval between two consecutive frames is 5 min, but is reduced to 500 ms in the movie. (Scale bar: 5 µm.)
