Complete fusion of adhered spheroplasts expressing Rz and imRz1. An area containing two adhered spheroplasts of different fluorescent markers was located under the microscope at the beginning of the imaging process. Images were captured in a 30-s interval. In this and other visualized fusion events between spheroplasts that have expressed Rz/GFP and mCherry/imRz1, fusion occurred in less than 1.5 min. Time is indicated in the top. (Scale bar, 5 μm.)
