Squeezing (dz/dt = −50 µm/s) and releasing (dz/dt = 20 µm/s) of a mercury drop, probed by a Glaco-coated glass plate against silicon pillars (a = 19 μm, b = 80 μm, and h = 100 μm) treated with OTS. Contact angles on this substrate are θa = 165 ± 2° and θr = 137 ± 4°. The drop changes back to the Cassie state after releasing.
