Observed using epifluorescence at regular resolution, the rapid motion of MreB-PAmCherry filaments ceased in the presence of A22, an inhibitor for MreB polymerization. The arrows point to the MreB filaments that did not show significant movement. The dynamics of the filament on top was analyzed in Fig. 2. MreB filaments were imaged at 2 Hz, and the movie plays at 10 Hz (5× speedup). (Scale bar: 1 μm.)
