Movie S2.

High throughput droplet generation using the parallelized step emulsifier. The step emulsifier is parallelized to 100 channels, that each are 30μm wide and 50μm high. The inline connected droplet generator splits the flow from the vortex device and encapsulates the released cells into uniform microdroplets without any manual transfer steps. It generates about 2,200 droplets per second. The droplets float away from the generation region due to buoyancy differences with the oil and form a monolayer on top of the reservoir.
