Movie S1.
Geometrical changes to the bilayer following cholesterol perfusion. The tips of two pipettes are set closely to the CBB for cholesterol perfusion (3 mg/mL cholesterol) and washout (hexadecane). First, cholesterol perfusion was started (time 4 s), and the bilayer area expanded. Slight volume expansion of the bubbles was seen together with an increase in the contact angle. Next, washout of the bilayer was performed with cholesterol-free solvent (time 7 s), and the bilayer area and the bubble volume returned to the original size.
Constitutive boost of a K+ channel via inherent bilayer tension and a unique tension-dependent modality
