Wound-induced electrical signals and petiole movement in M. pudica. A surface electrode was placed on the adaxial surface of the primary pulvinus of a distal leaf. Approx. 1 cm of petiole on the leaf below the electrode was crush-wounded. Distal petiole movement was monitored (upper panel). Surface potential (red) and leaf movement (blue) traces obtained from a leaf distal to a wound (lower panel). Traces and video were accelerated 100x.
