Experimental sliding elastic orthogonal clasp. This movie presents the running experiment of the experimental sliding elastic orthogonal clasp in configuration 3 as described in Fig. 4 of the main text. As the upper tip of the sliding rod is pulled upwards at a constant velocity, the vertical force necessary to apply this displacement is recorded and represented on the right diagram. Note that the slight overshoot in force observed around the tip displacement d = 20mm stems from the fact that the static friction coefficient is slightly higher than the dynamic friction coefficient. In this study, we only considered the dynamic plateau force T₁, obtained by averaging T in the stationary pulling regime.
