Video 1

Movie S1. To visualize the transition between the enzyme-substrate and enzyme-product complexes, LSQMAN (1) was used to generate a short morphing movie. Because this movie only represents a simple interpolation of coordinates of the two ground states seen in the structure of Arg90Cit BsCM* in complex with chorismate and prephenate, the structure of the transition state of the unimolecular rearrangement is not populated. The active sites located between chains E/D (chorismate) and C/B (prephenate) of PDB ID code 3ZP7 were used as starting structures.

Electrostatic transition state stabilization rather than reactant destabilization provides the chemical basis for efficient chorismate mutase catalysis
