Movie S3.

HIV-1 particle formation and RNA signal detection on the plasma membrane. HeLa cells were transfected with plasmids 1-Gag-BSL, 1-GagCeFP-BSL, 1-Gag-MSL, 1-GagCeFP-MSL, Bgl-YFP, and MS2-mKate (described in Figs. 1 and 3). Time-lapse images were acquired every 5 s with a 100-ms integration time for 2 h by using TIRF microscopy. (Left) Two RNA signals in green and red, respectively, and Gag signals (Right). An LoG filter was applied to the images, and the movie is encoded at 50 Hz.
